While working on a site in HTML-Kit today I accidentally came across a feature that I really wish I knew about a long time ago.
I was happily coding away (oddly enough) in PHP and had highlighted a few lines of code that I wanted to move. Before I had the chance to move them I accidentally hit the tab button on the keyboard only to see all the highlighted lines get tabbed at once
.
When I code in PHP I always indent the code like so:
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 | if (isset($_POST['submit'])) { // do something } else { // do something else } |
I find it makes the code easier to read and easier to spot if I’m missing any closing brackets, etc.
Sometimes after I have written some code, I decide that I want to enclose it inside another statement or another loop. So I write the new statement or loop and then manually tab each line inside it so the code is formatted the way I like it. I’ve had to manually tab anywhere up to fifthy lines of code before. Not any more
.
If only I had known about this feature a long time ago. It would have saved me a lot of time and frustration.

When watching a program on tv last night I was appauled at what I was seeing and hearing. Firefighters in Northern Ireland are receiving prank calls… but ones with a terrible twist. The pranksters are reporting fires in remote areas and cul-de-sac’s only to ambush the firefighters when they arrive.
The youths are masked and some even carry knives! But it gets worse. Now they look for abandoned and derelict buildings and when they find one they break inside and rip up the floorboards just inside the door, then cover over the hole that’s left with carpet or a mat, hoping to cause a firefighter to fall through into the basement!
On the program they had footage of some of the attacks. They were having stones, wooden planks, road cones, glass bottles and all other sorts of things being thrown at them. And this is all supposedly in the name of fun.
My god… what is the world coming too?

This is it. Man Utd’s only chance at silverware this season. They proved last year that they could do it and I’m sure they can do it again this year.
It’s good to know that we have our star striker (Van Nistelrooy), but that Arsenal don’t (Henry). I just hope that the game doesn’t have the kind of incidents that have occurred between the two in the past. I hope every one of the Utd players keeps their cool and avoids any red cards.
Update: Arsenal won on penalties! They didn’t deserve to though. Utd were by far the better team on the day. I think Utd had about 8 shots on target compared to 1 for Arsenal.
History was made today too, as this was the first ever FA Cup Final to go to penalties.
No silverware this year. Bring on next season.

I’m gutted! It really looks like there’s no stopping Glazer now ![]()
Glazer wins control of Man United
It’s bad enough that United have Chelsea to contend with from now on. This move from Glazer, I feel, will only weaken Man United as a team and a PLC. And the cheek of the Glazer family saying they were “avid fans”! He’s never been to Old Trafford in his life. How can he be an avid fan?
I just hope that something goes wrong for him that forces him to quit this takeover bid.
