The Candle Maker

CandlesI’m a smoker. One thing I (and probably most other people) don’t like about it is the smell. So, whenever I smoke in the house I usually burn a candle at the same time. It helps get rid of the smell of smoke (even an unscented candle). It works a treat.

I burn all different kinds of candles; tall to short, fat to thin, scented and unscented. One thing that all of them seem to have in common is that they never seem to burn out completely. There’s always some of the wax left over after the wick has burnt away, especially with the bigger candles. Why is that? It’s a waste if you ask me. Even though candles aren’t all that expensve, I don’t like seeing things go to waste.

So, I’ve been thinking about trying my hand at making them myself. Surely it can’t be all that difficult. Can it? I’ve always been relatively good with my hands and I think it would make a good hobby. You never know… maybe I could even end up selling some

Whether or not making them myself will help reduce the amount of wasted wax is another thing. Oh and by and by, burning scented candles can really help you relax. Vanilla scented candles are my favourite so far

Sick of 56K

I’m back on a 56k connection since I cancelled my broadband trial and I’m sick of it already! Not only is it painfully slow but I can only go online after 6pm – otherwise it costs me a fortune!

I could sign back up to my old IOL Anytime account – which means I could go online during the day – but I don’t plan on it. Why? Because even then I’m limited to approx. 6 hours a day and it’ll still be painfully slow.

At the moment I have two phone lines in the house. One for the Internet and the other for normal phone calls. I plan on cancelling one of the lines and getting broadband (dsl) on the other. It should work out cheaper in the end.

So why did I cancel the trial in the first place you ask? Because I had nothing but trouble with the company and the setup of the trial. So I plan on going with a different company the next time.

Comment Spam Problems

Recently there’s been an increase in comment spam here at Wired Vision. You may not have noticed it because I’m usually quick to deal with it. None the less, it’s becoming more and more of a problem. As a result I’ve implemented some additional plugins to combat it.

The plugins I’ve installed are Spaminator and Farook’s WPBlacklist.

Let’s hope this helps reduce comment spam considerably.

Keep It Clean!

This year I received a christmas present I certainly wasn’t expecting. When my sister was shopping for presents she said she came across this and couldn’t resist buying it – as a joke – for me.

What is it, you ask?

A Computer Cleaning Vac, similar to this one. It’s a small handheld vac with a couple of attachments to help get into the nooks and crannies of the keyboard and mouse.

When I unwrapped it, I must admit it brought a chuckle. We have a very similar sense of humour, so she knew when buying it, that it would do exacting what she intended.

Nice one sis’ and thanks.

It hasn’t been put to the test just yet, but will be in the near future I’m sure
