I just have to vent a bit about this. Bear with me ![]()
Everytime an ad comes on television for Dell or another computer retail store they always start the ad by saying “Powered by an Intel Pentium IV Processor”.
Why? Argh! What good is that to me? It doesn’t tell me the actual speed of the processor. For all I know it could be a 2.4Ghz PC or maybe it’s a top of the range 3.7Ghz PC. But there’s no way for me to tell for sure.
Please stop trying to impress people with high-tech mumbo jumbo and give the full processor details!
Ok, rant over for another while ![]()

According to The Register, Ireland is one of the most expensive countries for broadband.
When it comes to the high price of broadband among the 30 OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development) countries only three others - Luxembourg, Denmark and Iceland - are more expensive than Ireland
You would think with Yahoo, eBay, Amazon, Google, Overture, AOL and Paypal all with offices (existing or planned) in Dublin that the technology sector (including broadband) would be flouirshing. But no, not in Ireland!
I just don’t understand why ![]()

My computer is getting to the stage where I think the best thing to do is to reformat it. It’s always been something I’ve dreaded having to do. Will I remember to backup everything I want to keep? You just know there will be something you missed, like your internet bookmarks or some application preferences stored in some obscure file in some obscure folder on your HD.
What should be on your to-do list before reformatting your computer? Is there any specific ritual you go through? Please enlighten me!

From the BBC Technology website:
Nicholas Negroponte, chairman and founder of MIT’s Media Labs, says he is developing a laptop PC that will go on sale for less than $100 (£53).
While this sounds too good to be true, Nicholas goes on to say
The device will probably be exported as a kit of parts to be assembled locally to keep costs down.
So, it’s kinda a do it yourself laptop
I wonder if the instructions will be any better than the ones that come with kitchen units and stuff ![]()
